Marking 35 years of impact at Urenco Isotopes

28 April 2026 Global Urenco Stable Isotopes

Urenco recognises a milestone year in its stable isotope operations.

In 1991, Urenco Isotopes sold its first enriched isotope - xenon. This marked the beginning of specialised isotope enrichment capabilities within the Urenco group.

Xenon136 was used for fundamental neutrino (particle) research. It was a modest beginning that has since grown into work with significant global value.

Over the past 35 years, Urenco Isotopes has built a strong track record grounded in technical expertise, precision and operational discipline. Starting from a single isotope application, the organisation has continued to develop its capabilities to support a range of uses worldwide.

Progress has been driven not only by technology, but by people. Generations of specialists have contributed their knowledge and experience, maintaining high standards while continually refining processes and approaches.

As Urenco Isotopes marks this milestone, it reflects both continuity and long-term value creation: applying specialist expertise with care and responsibility, and remaining focused on doing complex work well.
